"Tribe with Pride Band"
Welcome to the Mechanicsburg "Tribe with Pride" Band site. Here at Mechanicsburg, we have a comprehensive, 5th grade through 12th grade instrumental music program. Students have the opportunity to learn instruments and perform in concert bands, pep bands, marching band, small ensembles, solos and other formats. We are proud to have nearly 200 students, more than 30% of the students eligible for band, participating in our ensembles. Mechanicsburg band students have traveled to or performed in Chicago, New York City, Orlando, Ontario, Toronto, Carnegie Hall and more. Mr. Oyer, the band director, has been at Mechanicsburg since 2003. He has degrees from Bowling Green State University and VanderCook College of music. He is originally from Pickerington, and now lives in Hilliard. This is his first job as a band director, and he has brought the program from a total of 14 students to the numbers we see today.
